In September 2016, the Get Involved Group was asked by the Business Support Manager for the East Sussex Local Pharmaceutical Committee (ESLPC) if they knew of any residents who use their local community pharmacy and would like to support the campaign for Community Pharmacies.
The GIG team met with the Business Support Manager and planned to facilitate the filming of up to 4 GIG members speaking about their own lived experiences of how they use their community pharmacies, and how it would affect them if their local pharmacy closed down due to the proposed Government cuts. This information and campaign would then be shared within NHS England and the Department of Health to help support the campaign against the cuts.
We were able to source a local professional filmographer, who filmed and edited the case studies on a voluntary basis. The ESLPC were able to cover the costs of travel and PA hours for participants who needed it.
4 people from the Get Involved Group were filmed in total, in November 2016 on location at Kamson’s Pharmacy on Portland Road, Hove. We were also able to source a further 15 written case studies from GIG members who felt passionately about saving local community pharmacies, to help them maintain independence, and ensure that this vital service is continued and supported across the city and the rest of the country.
