Universal Credit and Digital Services
Wednesday 24 May 2017, 2pm – 5pm at Friend’s Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton.
This GIG meeting was on Wednesday 24 May at the Friends Meeting House. The theme of the meeting was Universal Credit and Digital Services and Support. It was well attended and it was great to see some new faces!
Ewa from the Possability People Disability Advice Centre talked about Universal Credit and how it will affect disabled people. There was lots of helpful information, including the fact that claims for Universal Credit will now be filled out and assessed online. Kevin from the Employment Service shared his personal experience of Universal Credit.
Judith Field from Citizens Online talked about the digital support on offer in Brighton and Hove. As all future claims for Universal Credit will be exclusively online, applicants may need additional support. Judith also covered the common barriers being faced when accessing digital services. More information can be found at digitalbrightonandhove.org.uk/
After the talks, the group fed back their concerns and discussed the support they would need to make an online benefits claim. If anyone needs information, please call the Possability People Disability Advice Centre on 01272 89 40 50 between 10-4pm, and they’ll be happy to help or email@example.com
