Richard De Costobadie: Cyclists on Pavements

My name is Richard de Costobadie.

I am a member of the Get Involved Group and at the meeting on 2/9/14.

I volunteered to be the Go-To Person to look into the issue of cyclists illegally using pavements.

I needed first to establish who was responsible for this and so contacted Sussex Police and Brighton and Hove City Council. There is a shared responsibility, with the police responsible for enforcement of the offence (it IS illegal, but cyclists under 10 cannot be prosecuted for it) and the council taking a wider view on the causes in specific locations.

We now have a contact from each organisation which have agreed to attend a future GIG meeting should members wish to pursue the subject further.

Please comment below if you want to see a GIG meeting on this topic.
