Stanmer Park Restoration Project

A consultation was held with the Possability People’s Get Involved Group on 30/7/14 regarding the plans for Stanmer Park and its historic buildings.

Key issues raised were around the lack of provision for accessible toilets. Lack of awareness of cyclists around guide dogs. Lack of designated cycle routes. Members suggested a scheme were the park provided Disability-Awareness trained volunteers who could act as sighted guides or general assistants to help improve the access of the park

The consultation meeting was attended by people with a range of impairments, including visually impaired and blind guide dog users as well as wheelchair users. Some of the participants were regular users of the park (i.e. weekly) while others were occasional visitors. Other members of the Get Involved Group provided feedback via email which has been used in this report.
